About me
Welcome visitor,
My name is Jacob Tuinenga and resident in the beautiful Friese city Franeker, Holland.
In 2008, I have bought my first camera, the Sony A350 but already fast these were exchanged for the more professional A700. Now reach then several lenses, from macro, wide angel to a teleobjective.
Inspired by many photo's on several site's, I try to improve my possibilities and knowledge.
My stile is still continuously for developing but nature photography (particularly Het Wad) is for me nevertheless most inspiring
Since I bought a camera I start photographic and thanks to good comments on the Dutch and Belgium ngfotocommunity, I love photographic more and more, but when I see the photo's here on 1X I have still a lot to learn But that isn't a problem, it works inspiring.

fisherman's shack
In the old days this shack was a meeting place for the fishermen on Fur. In here was told many a story.
The Fur-fishermen were notorious for their strength and toughness. It is said that if Fur-fishermen had to search land elsewhere due to bad weather they went for the nearest tavern. They were not afraid to start a fist fight if they felt provoked - and they rarely lost. The Old Harbour of Fur is another example of their toughness and strength: The fishermen found the waiting too long when politicians on the mainland could not decide on providing the means for building a harbour on Fur. The Fur-fishermen seized shovels and spades and dug out the harbour by mutual help - and completed the task within a week.
Today this old shack is open to the public on Fur's southwest coast.

Left in the Dark
Yusef Dorozhko has a sad story. I don't know all the details, but not long ago he lost his wife and his son. Yusef is now alone. He is 81-years-old and lives in a house on the outskirts of a remote village, where he has two cows, a horse, a dog and four cats. He still works on the land and fixes things around the house, which to my amazement still did not have electricity. It seems like the world has forgotten Yusef, but considering his situation he was relatively optimistic and energetic. I was glad to meet him and keep him company.

Family Matters
Filip and Vera are husband and wife. They are gypsies, a minority in Belarus. We visited them in the village of Vidzy near the border with Latvia. I have always been interested in the lives of this fascinating people and finally got the chance to ask some questions. This is one of the photos I took during our conversation.

A lot of coastal Kerala's population are Christians. Here images of Jesus are just as common as those of Hindu Gods elsewhere in the country. This man is probably a fisherman (I never found out for sure). He was having his morning tea in a tea shack which I came back to a few times during my stay in Kollam - a town in the South of Kerala.
